What Happened to Goodbye By: Sara Dessen
This story is based off of the situation of a girl, name Mclean who lives with her father after her mother cheated on her father with her father's hero/inspiration. Since Mclean lives with her father that owns a restaurant, they move around a lot. Every time they move Mclean gives herself a new name and personality to reinvent herself. At the last move she decides to use her real name and be herself and the boy next door helps her be comfortable to be herself. This novel focuses on finding yourself and who you are and also learning about love and relationships.
I loved this book because of connections I made and how you never really knew what was going to happen next. The author has a great voice in the story and you can tell that she is trying to get the message accross on how important relationships. Also another message is that getting to know who you are first helps you find who others are. This novel is great to focus on the question "who am I?" especially for young people trying find a place in the world.
